Do you enjoy camping, fishing

Adapt-A-Camp

Convenience at your campsite

Many electric / electronic devices today are manufactured to run from 12v (automotive) power sources.

Think about your torch & lantern chargers, air mattress pump, camp lights and portable fridge / freezers. Add to this multiple devices requiring USB charging like phones, tablets, kids toys, etc.

How many of these items could you plug into your car at once? How long until the battery goes flat?

Adapt-a-camp can help solve these problems and bring convenience to the HEART of your camp.

The Adapt-a-Camp story

Jones Auto Electrical (JAElec) is a small family business based in Port MacDonnell South Australia. Established in 2010, we have gradually become more known in our local region. I (Mason), do all the hands on work, while my wife (Stacey) is the admin officer. Our two young sons lend a hand on occasion! I work on a large variety of vehicles including, cars, 4WDs, Motorbikes, agricultural machinery, boats, caravans/motorhomes, trailers etc. Work includes, automotive electrical fault finding and repairs, accessory installations, through to major work such as rewiring of fishing vessels. I also provide Automotive Air Conditioning services and repairs. I work from my workshop located on our property, and as many jobs demand, I also do work at customers sites.

Adapt-a-Camp is born!

As a family, we enjoy getting out and spending time in the outdoors. Our first family camping rig (after upgrading from a tent) was a budget model camper trailer. No electrical conveniences were installed. With a trip planned, I needed a quick way to distribute power to our appliances in camp. I had already fitted our vehicle (a Hilux) with a dual battery set-up and outlets from the auxiliary battery to the tub and towbar. I thought that I could utilize the battery we were already carrying and expand its usefulness within camp. I made an extension lead and the first prototype, which done well as a small light source, power outlet and also had the voltmeter with which to keep an eye on our battery level.

With nothing quite like my creation already on the market, I decided that it may be a handy product for other campers and something which could side line our business someday. So today, Adapt-a-Camp is available to you!
